Wine, views, gastronomy, culture and beautiful nature in the genuine north

The Basque Country, Galicia and La Rioja – get to know these three northern regions of the peninsula, accompanied by our expert guides and take in local delicacies, culture, incredible scenery and fine wine on a gastronomic adventure.

After your arrival in Madrid, you will be picked up by bus and travel directly to Bilbao – a sightseeing tour of the city will allow you to take in the most famous landmarks and architecture – from the factories dating from its industrial past, to the modern metro stations designed by Normal Foster, and of course, the world-renowned Guggenheim Museum.

After Bilbao it is time to explore the elegant seaside city of San Sebastian. For cinema lovers, this city is home to the annual “San Sebastian International Film Festival” – one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in Europe, held each September. For food lovers, the local style of tapas – “pintxos” can be enjoyed all year round, and our gastro-tour of the city visits some of the best bars for an authentic Basque dining experience. Alternatively, this day can be spent touring a vineyard and wine-tasting in the prominent wine-producing region of La Rioja.

Next objective on the tour is Spain’s most western region, Galicia, and to the city of Santiago de Compostela – one of the most important pilgrim destinations alongside Rome and Jesusalem. One of our expert guides will take you on a tour of the historic city, followed by free time to explore – perhaps sampling some of Galicia’s delicacies such as “Pimientos del Padron” (a kind of lottery of very mild and very hot peppers) or “Pulpo a la Gallega”, (boiled octopus with salt and paprika) or visiting the Cathedral where thousands of pilgrims trek each year.

The tour ends with a trip to a local vineyard before heading back to Madrid for departure.
Our tours are carefully planned, all hotels, restaurants, landmarks and guides are chosen with care, with the aim of making your trip one to remember.

Immerse yourself in northern Spain.
