With bohemian elegance

Sitges, a coastal town just 30 minutes outside Barcelona, is a great place to visit on a day trip from Barcelona, but perhaps an even better base for your stay in the region. With its white-washed houses and special light, Sitges offers a balance between bohemian and luxury, a holiday vibe without losing its local spirit, a place to relax yet where you are never too far from a fiesta. The town has succeeded in resisting over-exploitation and still maintains its local charm, even in high season.

The town’s hotels and facilities cater for all needs, making it a great location for large corporate events and celebrations – one of Catalonia’s largest hotels with over 300 rooms is found in Sitges. There are fantastic restaurants, bars and cosy cafés as well as “chiringuitos” – beach bars, stretching along its 4km of sandy beaches. Sitges Marina – the port area, boasts some fantastic seafood restaurants.

Throughout the year, Sitges hosts some of Spain’s most popular events: its Carnival celebration is one of the most famous in the country and its international film festival attracts Sci-Fi movie fans and celebrities from all over the world.

The area is also famous for its micro-climate, due to being surrounded by the mountains of the Garraf National Park. Sitges residents can experience mild, sunny winters and long summer days, even when it is raining in neighbouring towns such as Castelldefels and Barcelona itself.

The Garraf National Park, prominent wine regions such as Penedès are a short distance from the town, making it a perfect base for people who want to try different activities in the region.
